Midday outing to Monastery and Icon shop

The outing is postponed due to Hurricane Isabel

Head Deacon Jennifer Sandberg and I will be leading an outing next Friday, September 19, to the Franciscan Monastery, at the corner of 14th and Quincy Streets NE, and Icon and Book Service (a book and supply house for the Eastern Orthodox churches), both in the Brookland neighborhood of northeast Washington.

See "Continue reading" for more information.

Scott Wells

There is no fee for the outing, but do bring a bagged lunch and drink.

11 am: Tour of monastery's reproduction of Holy Land sites
12 pm: Visit of gardens (weather permitting) and lunch
1 pm: Book store visit

Email office@universalist.org if you have questions.

Please arrive a few minutes before 11 am.

The monastery and book store are accessible by Metro

Arrive at the Brookland/CUA Metro station, and from there take the 10:40 a.m. H6 bus (Fort Lincoln) to the monastery at 14th and Quincy Streets NE.

Alternatively, take crosstown 80 bus (Fort Totten) to 12th and Quincy Streets NE, and walk two blocks, past Icon and Book service, to the monastery.
