In accordance with the mandate received from the congregation at the Open Forum held March 14th, the Board completed the Church's application for a full-time interim minister at the Board of Trustees Retreat held on March 27. The Moderator will forward UNMC's application to the Unitarian Universalist Association immediately. The Board also chartered an Interim Search Committee and appointed Board Member and Committee on Ministry Chair Vicki Pepper as the new committee's chair.
The Interim Search Committee is about to embark upon a fairly intense period of meetings, phone calls, and other work over the next 3 months, in order to fulfill its role as defined by the Board to identify and screen candidates, then recommend an interim minister to be hired by the Board. The Board expects this Committee will start its work approximately 1 April, and will complete its work and be discharged by no later than June 30th.
A copy of the Interim Search Committee Charter approved by the Board is posted and available for your review. UNMC members interested in serving on the Interim Search Committee who are able to make the commitment necessary to its work should contact Vicki, either directly or through the Church office, by March 31st.
Please note that the Board does not expect that the search committee for a permanent, called minister will be established until the early fall, some time after the arrival of the Interim Minister. The congregation will be hearing more about this other important Search Committee over the coming months.
