Interim Minister Announcement

The Board of Trustees is very pleased to announce to the congregation that we have decided to hire the Reverend James R. (“Jim”) Morgan to be UNMC's Interim Minister for the next year while our search for a settled minister continues. Details of the ministerial agreement are being finalized, but Rev. Morgan is a retired ordained Methodist with a Universalist bent who has just finished up a successful six-month Interim Ministry with Grace United Methodist Church in Aberdeen, Maryland.

Rev. Morgan received his M.Div. from Wesley Theological Seminary in 1961, and a D.Min. from Wesley in 1972. He brings to UNMC the full ministerial skillset and a wealth of successful experience in a range of parish ministries from “start-ups” to “mega” churches. More importantly, he brings during our time of transition great enthusiasm, an ongoing passion for parish ministry, and a keen appreciation of the possibilities presented by ministry at UNMC. Reverend Morgan is a gifted and energetic parish minister; and we consider ourselves fortunate to have found him.

Thank you to our reconstituted 2005 Interim Search Committee of Vicki Pepper, David Skidmore, and Mary Templeton for their thoughtful and thorough efforts in the interim search process. While we wish Reverend Morn all the best as she is about to embark upon her new settled ministry with the UU Congregation of Fairfax, we are confident that Rev. Morgan will continue the good transition work we’ve started under Mary Katherine’s leadership as we continue to prepare the way for UNMC’s next settled minister. We look forward to an exciting and productive year under Reverend Morgan's pastoral leadership.

Please "stay tuned" for additional information about Rev. Morgan, including information about upcoming opportunities to meet him and his wife Beverly, in the Anchor and other all-church announcements.
