July Worship & Activity Schedule

This month, Rev. Henley continues her sermon series on the Unitarian Universalist Principles. Her plan is to find scriptural basis for the UU Principles.

Note that we have moved to our summer schedule of worship at 10:30 a.m. and will continue on that schedule through Labor Day.

Sunday, July 1
10:30 a.m. worship: The Fourth Principle - “A free and responsible search for truth and meaning.” Our Unitarian and Universalist heritage calls us to seek for ourselves those universal truths that inform and guide our lives and ethics.

Monday, July 2
7 p.m. Monthly Board of Trustees meeting. All are welcome to attend.

Saturday, July 7
5:30 p.m. worship: Vespers

Sunday, July 8
10:30 a.m. worship: The Fifth Principle - “The right of conscience and the use of the democratic process.” While democratic government as we understand it today cannot be found in the Bible, the principles of equity and fairness abound in Jesus’ teachings.

Saturday, July 14
10 a.m. Worship Committee meeting at Mary Simmons' house

8 p.m. Jose Luis Sanchez - A concert celebrating our French onnections

Sunday, July 15
10:30 a.m. worship: The Sixth Principle - “The goal of world community with peace, liberty, and justice for all.” What do we need to know to work toward world peace? Great religious writers all call us as individuals to seek peace first in ourselves.

Saturday, July 21
3 p.m. Monthly dinner ministry to the men in transition at Leland Place. Contact Dave Skidmore or the church office to participate.

Sunday, July 22
10:30 a.m. worship: The Seventh Principle - “Respect for the interdependent web of all existence of which we are a part” will lend itself to consideration of religious naturalism. Religious naturalism is a contemporary faith development that appeals to many individuals.

Saturday, July 28
9 a.m. Circle gathering to share passions and ideas about spiritual growth. All are welcome. To RSVP or get more information, please contact Sue Mosher or the church office.

Sunday, July 29
10:30 a.m. worship: “How do We Pray?” Preaching will be Archene Turner, a June graduate of Meadville Lombard Theological School, recently awarded preliminary fellowship by the UUA. The disciples asked Jesus to teach them how to pray. How do we pray in these trying days?
