September Worship & Activity Schedule

Sunday, September 5
11 a.m. worship: Rev. Henley will be back in the pulpit sharing "Life Lessons" from this summer.

Saturday, September 11
9 a.m. trip to New York City to participate in a rally in support of the right to build an Islamic cultural center near the site of the World Trade Center

Sunday, September 12
11 a.m. worship: "Homecoming Rally" and picnic-on-the-grounds. Rev. Henley begins a five-sermon series on "The Parables of Jesus." The first will be on the parable of the mustard seed.

12:30 p.m. Picnic on the grounds with food provided by the Board of Trustees and music by Franko Jazz

Saturday, September 18
3 p.m. Leland Place ministry: Meet in the church kitchen to prepare a meal. We'll then take it to Leland Place and join the men there for dinner.

Sunday, September 19
11 a.m. worship: "The Parable of the Fishing Net: A View of Universalism" by Rev. Henley

Saturday, September 25
7 p.m. Inaugural Forrest Church Symposium - "Reclaiming Our Religious Identity as Unitarian Universalists: Do We Know Who We Are?" - Keynote by noted UU Theologian Dr. Paul Rasor, followed by panel discussion, Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Fairfax

Sunday, September 26
11 a.m. worship: "Lazarus and the Rich Man" by Rev. Henley, followed by communion, which is open to all

7 p.m. Fourth Annual Goodloe Celebration in Honor of Rev. Don S.S. Goodloe: "Living, Serving, and Worshipping in a Multicultural Environment", featuring UUA moderator Gini Courter, Goodloe Memorial Unitarian Universalist Congregation

Thursday, October 14, - Sunday, October 17
Unitarian Universalist Christian Fellowship revival: "Rediscovering Jesus and Communities of Hope," Horizon Unitarian Universalist Church, Carrollton, TX (near Dallas) - worship, workshops (including one led by Rev. Henley on Universalist Christianity), daily morning and evening prayer, Taizé, communion, baptism, prayer, healing, mission service project, and social gathering. Discount on registration before September 19.

Sunday, October 17
12:30 p.m. Luncheon, discussion, and sharing: "How can the diaconate best serve the 21st century church?" The deacons extend a warm welcome to all to attend.

3 p.m. Concert: "Great Operatic Duets," organized by the Washington National Wagner Society.
