Celebrate Thanksgiving early with the men of Leland Place. Our church is scheduled to share a meal with men in recovery from homelessness and addiction on Saturday, Nov. 20. To participate, please RSVP to dave_skidmore@cox.net. Volunteers gather in the church kitchen at 2:30 p.m. with the goal of serving the meal at Leland Place, a facility of SOME (So Others Might Eat) on North Capitol Street, by 5 p.m. Volunteers generally contribute toward the cost of the meal, usually about $20, but if you are more than welcome to contribute your labor only. (In that case, see Pastor Lillie or Dave.)
At our last dinner, on Oct. 16, the men enjoyed a hearty casserole of ground turkey, cheddar cheese, and pasta --- plus biscuits, salad, and ice cream. Thanks to volunteers Marsha Silverberg and Dave Skidmore.
