Board of Trustees Resolution: American Unitarian Conference

Whereas: The principles of the American Unitarian Conference are generally in accord with the mission statement adopted by UNMC in May 2002.
Whereas: The AUC offers recognition, through its web site directory, to those congregations that are not members of the AUC but agree to provide an “Open Door” to AUC members and their faith tradition.
Whereas: The UNMC Board of Trustees voted at its Nov. 3, 2003, board meeting to recommend to the congregation at the Nov. 16, 2003, semi-annual meeting that UNMC become an AUC “Open Door” congregation.
Whereas: The congregation, being without a quorum at the Nov. 16 meeting, was unable to take formal action, but discussed the issue and on a voice vote, expressed support for the church becoming an AUC “Open Door” congregation.
Be it resolved, therefore, that the UNMC Board of Trustees takes the following actions:
• Affirms that the church desires to be considered an AUC “Open Door” congregation.
• Directs the Moderator and Secretary to take whatever action(s) might be necessary to bring about such an affiliation.
• Directs the Moderator, Secretary, church administrator, and other church officers and members involved in developing materials about UNMC to note that the church is an AUC “Open Door” Congregation in such materials.
